Medgar Evers-Erin Klimisch

Medgar Evers

  • Medgar Evers was an African American Civil Rights activist from Mississippi. 
  • He was involved in efforts to overturn segregation at the University of Mississippi. 
  • He became a feild secretary for the NAACP. 
  • Medgar was assassinated June 12, 1963 by Byron De La Beckwith  
  • Byron De La Beckwith was a member of white citizens' council. 
  • As a veteran, he was buried with full military honors. 
  • His murder and the resulting trials inspired civil rights protests, as well as numerous works of art, music, and film.
