After 'Little Boy' or the first nuclear bomb dropped on Japan showed it's effectiveness at Hiroshima, another bombing mission was needed to see what damage a uranium bomb could do. On August 9, 1945 a plutonium bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki Japan. It was named 'Fat Man', and had the explosive capacity of 20,000 tons of high explosives. It also weighed about 10,000 pounds. After the bombs explosion Japan had surrendered to the United States.
